** This Wednesday Workshop #1: Needfinding

When: Wednesday 9/24 from 12:00pm - 1:20pm Where: JMHH G55

The Design Process is a powerful tool that combines business acumen with a design mentality to create powerful solutions to any problem. In this four part workshop series, we will guide you through the Design Process and show you how to leverage this technique in any professional environment.

The workshop will be hands on and immersive, focusing on parlayable skills such as insight derivation, idea generation, and rapid prototyping. Because of the abridged nature of the workshops, it is recommended that participants stay for the entire duration of the session and attend consecutive sessions.

This year, they’ve set our sights on the field of nanotechnology! They have selected three exciting new nanotechnologies created by Penn researchers, and now it’s your turn to propose the best commercial applications. They invite you to unleash your creativity, build your entrepreneurial skills, and team up with some great people along the way. Your team could win $5000 and the opportunity to take the idea further!

Please join the Y-Prize Kick-off on Wednesday, September 24th, 6:30–9:00 p.m. at the Singh Center for Nanotechnology. Penn faculty will explain the technologies and share details about the contest. You’re also invite you to stay for a networking reception immediately following the presentations!

** xLab Design Research

Have you ever wanted to be involved in a design research study and have your ideas shape the development of a future product? The xLab is hosting generative design sessions to get your input on an interactive technology that we are developing right now. We are looking for select group of people that have an at home exercise routine or would like to start one and can spend an hour with us to talk about their ideas and experiences. Lunch or dinner will be included in the session and it will be scheduled on campus at a time convenient for you. The Entrepreneurship Expo highlights the entrepreneurial offerings across Penn's campus and showcases a select group of current students' ventures. All Penn students interested in entrepreneurship are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be provided. ** Marketing and Data Science Internship at Pymetrics

Help out with a startup with a low time commitment, part-time "internet-ship" over the school year! An MIT / HBS startup, pymetrics (http://whartondesignclub.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d073e07989ca2b0053218c9de&id=41a0a5225b&e=4b88744fb2) uses neuroscience + data science to transform career assessment + recruiting into an easy, accurate, and enjoyable process. pymetrics replaces questionnaires with neuroscience games, and the guessing done in resume reviews with data science. Students use the platform for free career fit assessment, and through it are matched with companies using our platform for recruiting. Think LinkedIn meets OkCupid!
