** Hola Website!

This week we have a message from our new presidents, Vaughn Baker and Katy Bennet, among other great events going on this week, including small group dinners.

** Join the Design Club's executive board!

Hello Club Members! Vaughn and I are excited to be leading the club for the upcoming academic year and invite you to consider joining as an Executive Officer. Now entering its third year, the Design Club is poised for a breakout year. Building on the momentum established by our current board + leadership, we will continue to 1) Promote innovation and demonstrate the value of design in business, 2) develop industry relationships and opportunities for students pursuing careers in innovation, and 3) establish Wharton as the #1 Innovation management program on the East coast.

Our vision for achieving these goals next year includes:

The Wharton Design Challenge Leveraging the success of this year’s Michael Kors Design Challenge, we’ll host another cross-Penn, multi-week challenge to deliver an innovative solution for a real and specific business need provided by a new corporate sponsor. Once again, teams of up to five will compete for innovation supremacy, and we will provide with them training and resources to move from need to concept to prototype through a series of workshops facilitated by professional innovation firms and designers.

Fall & Spring Career Treks This year’s spring career trek to New York was a hit, and our relationships with partner firms through the MBA Career Management Office are booming. Next year, to meet demand from students and interested firms, we’ll add an additional trek into our fall schedule and meet innovation groups within product/service companies as well as innovation and design consulting firms. Meanwhile, we’ll be incorporating thought leadership and practitioner-led workshops to bring you more programming and industry info on Design Wednesdays.

MBA Innovation Summit (New York) The fourth annual MBA Innovation Summit will be organized by students from Columbia, Yale and Wharton and held in New York. This year’s event last week on April 5th was another huge success, and next year, we’ll look for ways to work with our counterparts in NYC to incorporate more awesome speakers and workshops designers and innovation strategists to provide you with the opportunity to hear from thought leaders and build your innovation network. Innovation Curriculum and Experiences

We want to bring you more opportunities for exposure to design thinking, and are working to build a full schedule of curriculum on Design Wednesdays, including workshops, mini design challenges, and other fun activities to get you more hand-on experience with design thinking tools. We hope you are as excited for the year ahead as we are, and we want YOUR creativity and drive to make these events wildly successful. Here are the open VP roles:

VPs of Design Challenge (2) Co-organize the first ever design challenge at Wharton, working closely with Katy and Vaughn as well as the Wharton academic and career office

VPs of Career (2) Work with firms, industry professionals, other VPs and MBA Career Management to bring Innovation job opportunities to campus and co-organize career treks

VPs of Innovation Education (2) Cultivate knowledge of human centered design practices and bring opportunities to experience design thinking and innovation to club members on a regular basis.

VP of Marketing (1) Manage marketing efforts and communication channels including newsletters and social media. Work closely with VPs of Design Challenge and Summit.

VP of Innovation Summit (1) Co-organize the third annual MBA Innovation Summit with Yale and Columbia

VP of Finance & Sponsorships (1) Make everything possible – find excited alumni and other business leaders who can support the club’s ambitions. Manage club finances and teaming up with other VP’s on club projects and events.

Please submit your statement of interest here and tell us which roles you would like to champion and why you are passionate about them. Applications will be open until 11:59pm on Wednesday, April 9.

We look forward to working with you!

Sincerely, Katy & Vaughn Co-Presidents
