The quarter is coming to a close, but Design Club is still busy!

Design Club Trek #2! NYC Here are the details - we will be visiting 3 companies THIS FRIDAY: Redscout at 10am, Fahrenheit 212 at 1pm & Harry's at 3:30pm, and then doing a happy hour afterwards.

Redscout is an idea-led innovation agency, organized around the belief that innovation is the most powerful form of marketing. Recent client work includes improving sales for Dominos and reinventing the design and innovation process at Kate Spade. Fahrenheit 212 is an innovation consulting firm, with a focus on growth strategy. They have a differentiated approach to addressing the consumer and commercial proposition simultaneously, called Money & Magic, which we'll hear more about!

Harry's was created to disrupt the traditional shaving market, and one of the founders comes straight from Warby Parker! The company aims to provide a great shave at a great price, and donates 1% of their sales & at least 1% of their time to organizations that prepare people for personal and professional success.

NextFab Studio Tour April 22, 4:30PM 2025 Washington Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19146

NextFab Studios (http://whartondesignclub.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d073e07989ca2b0053218c9de&id=95cff65331&e=4b88744fb2) is a local innovator’s space that is offering Penn students an exclusive tour of their facility including demos of some high-tech tools like 3D printers. The space offers 21,000 sq. ft of dedicated workspaces supplied with tools and equipment for woodworking, metalworking, laser cutting and engraving, 3D printing, textile processing, electronics, photography, 2D printing and more!

Y-Prize Competition 2014 Grand Finale April 21, 2014, 6:30 p.m Singh Center for Nanotechnology 3205 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19104

We cordially invite you to attend the University of Pennsylvania’s Y-Prize Competition Grand Finale on April 21, 2014 at 6:30 p.m.

Four finalist teams will battle for $5000 and the right to pitch their application of Penn-owned robotics technology to IP Group (http://whartondesignclub.us3.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=d073e07989ca2b0053218c9de&id=bc772d2fbe&e=4b88744fb2) . Their ideas span fields as diverse as entertainment, education, and agriculture. The teams will go head-to-head with 10-minute presentations to a panel of industry leaders and venture capitalists, followed by a brief Q&A session. This was the second year for the competition, in which student teams propose innovative commercial applications for technology invented by University of Pennsylvania researchers. The focal technologies were robotics developed by School of Engineering and Applied Science professors Daniel E. Koditschek, Vijay Kumar, and Mark Yim at the General Robotics Automation Sensing and Perception (GRASP) laboratory.

The event is co-sponsored by the Mack Institute of Innovation Management at the Wharton School, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and IP Group.
